Q: What is the current cash fee for consultations?

The current cash fee for therapy is R900 per hour.

Q: What is excluded from payment by the medical aid?

Some medical funds do not include psychometric assessments and special assessments (e.g. Socio Emotional Assessments or Forensic Assessment into allegations of Sexual Abuse) in their benefits. Please contact me for the rates and a cost estimate.

I'm a registered Educational Psychologist focusing on developmental and family related problems. With years of general experience and ongoing training in Continuous Professional Development, I have knowledge in a broader field. Therefore, I gladly help as much as possible. We can discuss your needs and how I can best assist you. If however, if I'm not the best fit to deliver an effective service, I will refer you to a suitable professional.

Q: How does payment work?

Since my practice is registered with the Board of Health Funders I am able to claim from medical aids. This however, is dependent on the benefits of the fund and whether it fits into my scope of practice. Most medical aids do pay for services that I render.

Q: What work does an Educational Psychologist do?

An Educational Psychologist works in the field of emotional wellbeing of people, focusing on children and their needs. Since children form part of a bigger society, like a family, social group, scholastic environment, other role players in the child's upbringing and development are often included into therapy, specifically the parents and/or primary caregivers. Therefor, therapy with children would normally include an initial session with the parent(s) or caregivers and most often include at least one feedback session with the relevant adults as well. Emotions are often the driving force behind the actions, choices and success of a person. In addition, being unhappy and emotionally unhealthy can be very limiting, and therefore it needs to be addressed. Thus, concerning parents are often included into the therapeutic program with the child.
